On Saturday, February 15th, Allen Media Group’s (AMG) HBCU GO will air the CIAA matchup between rivals Shaw University and Johnson C. Smith.
AMG is a free-streaming digital platform and the leading media provider for the nation’s 107 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), continuing its 2025 HBCU GO Basketball Season.
Both games between the Shaw Bears and JCSU Golden Bulls are must-watch matchups on HBCU GO, with CIAA tournament positioning on the line.

The Women’s Game starts at 1 PM ET, followed by the Men’s Game, both of which are available for live streaming on HBCU GO.
WOMEN MATCH-UP
Under the guidance of experienced coach Jacques Curtis, the Bears find themselves in 4th place in the Southern Division, having showcased their strength in their most recent encounter with Johnson C. Smith, where they secured a victory by 23 points. Shaw’s defensive powerhouse is 6’3″ junior Mahogany Collins, boasting 95 blocks this season.

Johnson C. Smith is currently fifth in the division under the guidance of first-year head coach Tashia Murphy. Sophomore scoring leader Betsey Burnett, averaging 14 points per game, will be relied upon to counter Shaw’s defensive intensity and shift the momentum in this rematch.
MEN MATCH-UP
On the men’s side, Shaw (ranked 3rd) and Johnson C. Smith (ranked 5th) compete for important positions in the race toward the CIAA tournament. Their previous encounter was a memorable showdown, with Shaw securing an 87-86 victory against JCSU in overtime.
Trent McIntyre and Dreveon Scott drive Shaw’s offense, while Johnson C. Smith aims to respond at home, spearheaded by Ashton Sherrell and Javon Anderson.

The Golden Bulls have secured victories in two of their last three games at Brayboy Arena, providing them with a distinct advantage on their home court.

As February progresses, this matchup represents the enduring legacy of excellence in HBCU athletics and the vibrant history of CIAA, SWAC, and SIAC conference basketball. HBCU GO TV have influenced future professionals while enhancing the legacy of black college sports.
