BET will debut 106 & Sports, a new weekly sports and culture talk show hosted by former NFL MVP Cam Newton and sports journalist Ashley Nicole Moss, on Oct. 15.
The show is a reimagining of the network’s iconic 106 & Park franchise, which became a cultural hub for music and entertainment in the early 2000s. 106 & Sports will feature a live studio audience, celebrity guests and a DJ, combining traditional sports talk with elements of pop culture, fashion and music.
Produced by SpringHill, the media company founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, the series will air Wednesdays through Dec. 17. Each episode will also be available the following day on BET+.
Newton, who led the Carolina Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance in 2016, said the program is meant to echo the energy and cultural impact of 106 & Park while shifting the focus to the sports world. Moss added that the goal is to create a space where sports fans can see their interests reflected beyond game highlights and statistics.
BET executives said the show is designed to capture how sports and culture intersect, offering debate, viral moments and interviews with athletes and entertainers.
The first season of 106 & Sports will run 10 episodes.
