Master P Steps Away From University of New Orleans Men’s Basketball Program After Fulfilling His Commitment in Just One Season

Hip-hop mogul and entrepreneur, Percy ‘Master P’ Miller, is stepping down from the Univ. of New Orleans men’s basketball program, saying his one-year commitment to the Privateers has been fulfilled after serving as president of basketball operations and assistant coach.

In a statement, Miller, who joined the organization in February 2025, reflected on investing his time, resources, and vision into rebuilding the struggling basketball program—highlighting facility upgrades, a new Jumbotron, and his mission to uplift student-athletes and the New Orleans community.

“This is bigger than basketball,” he shared, emphasizing education, opportunity, and creating future leaders.

Miller says his focus remains on his investment in the city that raised him.

“A blessing to be a blessing,” Miller highlighted in his post.

The school’s name will soon transition under Louisiana State University—New Orleans this summer, effective July 1st, according to WVUE Fox 8.
