January brought us spectacular events in the Ville. At the start of the New Year, January is giving the sip on wine, acoustic your mind in art, and run-in style type of vibe.
Local Painter, Filmmaker, and Videographer Andrew Brooks hosted a Vintage Vibes: An Art Life Gala Experience at the Arts Council on January 6th. Brooks introduced his urban art exhibit, called Vintage Vibes. The event also featured local and out-of-state musical talent, singing Hip Hop and R&B music.
The event was followed by a film screening for a movie produced by Brooks titled “What Would Picasso Do?” Some of the cast members were present at the reception. Brooks’ art exhibits were displayed at the Arts Council from January 6th to 21st. According to the Arts Council Outreach Coordinator, Brooks’ art display drew many visitors to his artwork exhibits.
On January 7th, An Affair to Remember teamed up with Women Power of Society of NC to host 2023 You Won’t Break My Soul Runaway Extravaganza Fashion Show at the Crown Coliseum. Young girls to pageant queens ripped the runway in the latest formal wear.
The fashion show included a segment celebrating and honoring women leaders in the community. The fashion show featured live music from Sleeping Booty.
