Former NBA star Allan Houston hosted an “EXCLSUIVE” preview for the film The Forge on Saturday, July 13th, during the NBA Summer League festivities in Las Vegas.
Cameron Arnett, BJ Arnett, and Aspen Kennedy were among the cast members who attended. Some of the famous attendees include Doug E. Fresh, members of New Edition (Mike Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, and Johnny Gill), former NBA player Jalen Rose, and other NBA players who came out to support the viewing during the NBA’s Summer League. Locals such as Jon Ponder, CEO and Founder of Hope for Prisoners, Joe Branch (WME William Morris Endeavors Sport), and Kevin Chapman of Vegas Broken Chains were also in attendance.
The screening concluded with an open discussion forum about mentorship and discipleship. Some of the famous guests gave their thoughts on the film and led a fruitful debate about mentorship and discipleship. Houston also discusses the significance of mentorship and his role in teaching healthy values through his organization, FISLL. FISLL, which stands for Faith, Integrity, Sacrifice Leadership, and Legacy, is a social impact brand whose purpose is to engage, equip, inspire, and outfit people to live better, lead better, and perform better.
The Forge, featuring Priscilla Shirers, Karen Abercrombie (Miss Clara), and Aspen Kennedy, will premiere worldwide on August 23rd. The Kendrick Brothers’ film is about a high school student who has no plans for the future. His single mother and a successful businessman urge him to begin charting a better course for his life. Through his mother’s prayers and biblical discipleship from his new mentor, he discovers that God’s purpose for his life is far greater than he could have imagined. The Kendrick Brothers also directed and produced War Room and Overcomers.
