ICAN Clothes Launches Its First Ever Fashion Scholarship for HBCU Students

ICAN Clothes announces its first-ever fashion scholarship for HBCU students. Students from historically black colleges and universities who are interested in starting their own fashion business can apply for this $5,000 award.


Dedicated to empowering individuals through style and self-expression, the renowned fashion business ICAN Clothes has launched the first-ever ICAN Fashion Scholarship. Full-time students at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) who aspire to establish a fashion label, transform the world, and significantly influence the fashion industry are the target audience for the scholarship.


Kelsey Battle, Founder and CEO of ICAN Clothes, expressed in a statement that the company values entrepreneurs’ dreams by funding the careers of aspiring fashion industry professionals.

“At ICAN Clothes, we believe in the power of entrepreneurship and the importance of supporting future leaders in the fashion industry,” said Battle.

“This scholarship is our way of giving back to the community and fostering creativity, innovation, and cultural pride among HBCU students. It’s where passion meets purpose,” he added.

Founded in 1999, ICAN Clothes is a fashion brand that empowers individuals to express their unique identity through style. Veteran and entrepreneur Kelsey Battle founded the brand, rooted in resilience, cultural pride, and the belief that “you can” achieve greatness no matter the obstacles. ICAN Clothes offers a curated collection of garments that blend style with purpose, allowing individuals to embrace their journey and elevate their lifestyle.

Scholarship Information

Any full-time HBCU student who is serious about starting their own clothing brand is eligible to apply for the ICAN Fashion Scholarship. A 60-second video delivering an “ICAN” message outlining the applicant’s goals, the reasons they should get the scholarship, and their intended influence on the fashion industry must be considered.

ELIGIBLITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full-time attendance at a historically black college and university (HBCU).
  • Active pursuit of starting a clothing line
  • Submission of a 60-second ICAN message video


The deadline to submit your application is September 30, 2024. The winner will get a scholarship of up to $5,000 on December 1, 2024, applied towards spring semester tuition, fees, or other school-related expenses.

In addition to the video submission, applicants will need to provide proof of enrollment and a summary of their academic achievements and extracurricular activities related to fashion and entrepreneurship.
