The NFL announced the news on Tuesday to go with the phrase “Choose Love.” Sunday’s game will be the first Super Bowl since February 2021 at which “End Racism” will not be in an end zone stencil.
According to NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy, the new slogan change is part of the NFL’s Inspire Change initiative, which has been in place since 2020. McCarthy said the ‘Choose Love’ phrase is fitting for the Super Bowl, as it captures recent tragedies: California wildfires, the New Orleans New Year’s terrorist attack, the plane and helicopter collision in Washington DC, and the plane crash in Philadelphia.

The NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell defended the league’s diversity policies, stating that the league’s decision to change the slogan doesn’t conflict with Trump, who will be in attendance for the Super Bowl, and his push to eliminate DEI programs.
Goodell said that the league’s policies are consistent with previous administrations and have proven successful.
