Things took a troubling turn for Lil Nas X just hours before his arrest early Thursday morning in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, the 26-year-old rapper was captured on hotel surveillance around 1:30 p.m. PT on Aug. 20 wandering the courtyard of the Short Stories Hotel, where he was reportedly not a guest. Dressed in full cowboy attire — including a hat, button-up shirt, jeans, and boots — the Georgia native was seen fanning himself, grabbing what appeared to be a glass of water from the lobby, and eventually removing his shirt while sitting on a bench, reports Page Six.
By the next morning, Aug. 21, the Grammy winner had stripped down to only his underwear and shoes and was spotted roaming Ventura Boulevard with an orange traffic cone on his head.
When officers approached him around 5:50 a.m., sources claim he “charged” at police and allegedly punched one officer in the face. He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation of a possible overdose.
Records show Lil Nas X was later booked at Van Nuys Jail on a misdemeanor charge of battery on a police officer.
Prior to the incident, the “Old Town Road” star had shared a series of unusual Instagram posts, raising concern among fans about his well-being.
