CONCORD, N.C. — Police say alcohol was a contributing factor in a single-vehicle crash that killed TikTok and YouTube personality Malik Taylor, 28, in Cabarrus County last week.
The crash happened on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at an apartment complex on Lapis Lane Northwest in Concord. Investigators said Taylor’s 2016 Nissan Rogue went off the roadway, dropped about 20 feet down an embankment, and landed upside down. He was the only person inside the vehicle and died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved, and police confirmed no foul play was suspected.

Taylor, originally from Memphis, had recently moved to the Charlotte area. He was known online for his channel The Unpopular Party, which gained more than 265,000 followers on TikTok and nearly 100,000 subscribers on YouTube.
His family released a statement thanking the public for their support, saying Taylor’s “legacy of inspiring, entertaining, and uplifting others will continue to live on.”
Funeral services are scheduled for August 30th at Hill Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee.
