Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner Sue Ray J for Character Defamation Over False RICO Allegations

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner filed a defamation lawsuit on Wednesday against Ray J through a Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing him of spreading false claims that they’re under federal investigation and about to be indicted.

According to the suit, Ray J, whose real name is Ray Norwood Jr., falsely alleged he was working with federal investigators on a racketeering case against them. Kardashian and Jenner call the claims “blatantly false” and part of his long-running harassment campaign.

The filing cites two recent statements that “crossed a line,” including comments made during a May TMZ special and through his Sept livestream, where Ray J claimed, “The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy.”

Their attorney says no such investigation exists and that his comments cause reputational and financial harm—accusing Ray J of not being able to accept the end of his relationship with Kim and using their prominence for financial gain.

“No law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against Ms. Kardashian or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations,” according to the lawsuit.

Ray J responded to the lawsuit, saying “that they will not silence me…..We got the number one show coming out, Love Cabin,” in a interview with 9 Mag TV.

The 44-year-old said that he’s maintaining his innocence and will not take any more hush money from Kim and Kris. He also said the industry can be dark, and it’s all about telling the truth.

Ray J and Kim dated from 2003 to 2006, shortly after her divorce from her first husband, Damon Thomas. At the time, Kim was working as a stylist for Ray J’s sister, singer and actress Brandy. In 2007, a sex tape featuring the couple was leaked and later released by Vivid Entertainment. Kim initially filed a lawsuit but ultimately reached a settlement reportedly worth $5 million.
