Dwight Howard Files for Divorce After Amy Luciani’s Viral Video Alleges Drug Use and CPS Involvement

Former NBA champion Dwight Howard has filed for divorce from his wife, Amber Howard, who is publicly known as Amy Luciani, after a viral social media video sparked controversy surrounding allegations involving his family.

Court documents filed on March 9 in Georgia indicate that Howard requested the divorce, stating that the marriage is “irretrievably broken” with no hope of reconciliation.

The filing came after Luciani posted an emotional video online in which she made several claims about the former NBA star. During the livestream, she alleged Howard struggled with drug use and said Child Protective Services (CPS) had taken one of his daughters from his home following multiple visits from authorities.

Howard has not publicly responded to or confirmed the allegations made in the video. Reports also note that the couple does not share any children together, though the eight-time NBA All-Star has children from previous relationships.

A Relationship Marked by Public Turmoil

Howard and Luciani married on January 11, 2025. Their relationship has faced public challenges in the past. In July 2025—roughly six months after their wedding—Luciani previously filed for divorce but later withdrew the petition. The couple later reconciled, but their relationship once again returned to the spotlight amid the recent controversy.

Tensions escalated after Luciani’s accusations circulated widely across social media, fueling online debate and speculation. Shortly afterward, Howard moved forward with his own divorce filing.

What’s Next

As part of the divorce proceedings, Howard is reportedly seeking exclusive use of his Georgia home. The case will now move through the court system as both sides address the highly publicized split.

The situation adds another chapter to Howard’s personal life. The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft built a decorated career that includes three NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards and an NBA championship.

For now, neither Howard nor Luciani has released a detailed public statement addressing the divorce filing or the allegations that triggered the viral controversy.
