Kym Whitley, actress, comedian, and multi-award-winning podcaster known for standout roles in Next Friday, Young & Hungry, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Raising Whitley, as well as a Daytime Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Big Candi on The Bay, recently wrapped a series of East Coast comedy shows that brought her signature humor and warmth to audiences across multiple cities. Her tour stops included Louisville, Kentucky; New Brunswick, NJ; Bridgeport, CT; Boston, MA; and Albany, NY, each delivering an intimate and unpredictable night of comedy.
Reflecting on the experience, Whitley shared, “This moment isn’t about cracking jokes; it’s about creating a refuge where laughter defies reality’s gravity. If I can carve out an hour to lift spirits, then I’ve fulfilled my purpose.”
Designed as both entertainment and an escape, each performance offered a unique atmosphere shaped by the energy of every city. “My stage isn’t just mine—it’s a canvas for spontaneity where every night writes its own story,” she added. “With each city comes different energy—and you never know who might join me in amplifying it.”
The tour also marked a continued evolution in Whitley’s comedy journey, blending her roots in stand-up with a renewed creative perspective. Fans can also stream her recent projects on Amazon Prime, including Re-Election and Killing Mary Sue, along with Netflix titles Happy Gilmore 2 and Act Your Age, further showcasing her range as one of comedy’s most dynamic voices.
Later this year, Whitley is set to appear alongside Tommy Davidson in BET+’s The Varnell Hill Show, a spinoff of the classic series Martin, where she will play Kim Jones, the loyal assistant and unofficial executive producer to Davidson’s Varnell Hill. Martin Lawrence will also reprise his role as Martin Payne in the series.
Whitley’s latest run continues to highlight her ability to blend humor with heart—leaving audiences energized long after the curtain falls.
