Just when the customer was expecting to get some cookies, witness a real-life beauty shop situation at a Crumbl Cookie store in midtown Charlotte, North Carolina.
A viral video shows a Crumbl employee doing another employee’s hair during work hours inside the South Kings Drive shop. The incident happened on Friday, July 17, 2026, around 9pm, according to WBTV. The unidentified customer recorded the incident, which quickly spread online, before going inside the store.
WBTV reports that once he went inside, he called out the workers for their bizarre behavior and unsanitary conditions. The news outlet reports that the employee playing a hairstylist callously responded, “Do you see me cooking?”
He surprisingly tried to order soft chocolate chip cookies but was out of luck since there weren’t any fresh ones left.
The unidentified customer and another customer, who witnessed the bizarre incident, took action by filing a complaint with the headquarters. Crumbl has since released a statement saying the behavior violated the company’s standards and policies. The company said it took immediate action, including discarding the dough, temporarily closing the store, hiring a professional cleaning crew to clean the inside of the restaurant, and taking appropriate action with the employees involved. The two employees involved in the controversy no longer work for the company, WCNC reported.
The Crumbl store reopened on Tuesday after temporarily closing the store on Monday for cleaning after learning about the incident and reopened on Tuesday.
