Imagine traveling from out of state with your favorite celebrity in mind, believing you are moving in with them, only to discover that you’ve been catfished.
That’s what happened to a woman who arrived at actor Shemar Moore’s Los Angeles-area home with luggage, believing she had been invited to live with him, according to TMZ.
The news outlet, which spoke with a law enforcement source, reports that the woman knocked on the door and was greeted by Moore’s partner, Jesiree Dizon. Dizon reportedly told her to leave and reached out to the LAPD who responded to the incident.
Authorities say the woman explained she had been communicating with someone impersonating the SWAT actor online and believed the messages were genuine. She traveled from another state, according to authorities, because she thought the actor had invited her to move in with him. Dizon did not want the police to arrest the woman, but authorities took a trespass report, and she left without further incident. The 56-year-old wasn’t home when the woman visited his home.
This incident serves as another reminder to be cautious of online impersonation scams and verify who you’re communicating with before sending money or making major travel plans.
