Tenisha Warner, widow of the late Malcolm-Jamal Warner, has broken her silence for the first time since his tragic passing in July and shared her grief, love, and vision moving forward with their daughter.
Marking what would have been their wedding anniversary, Tenisha posted a photo from their 2017 wedding and expressed how she still feels his presence—his laughter, his openness, and how he held space for every tear and dream.

In that same message, Tenisha and their daughter announced two new efforts to continue Malcolm-Jamal’s legacy of creativity, compassion, and emotional connection:
• River & Ember: A project offering seasonal toolkits for families—with stories, art, mindfulness, and rituals—to help children (and parents) cope with emotions, especially grief, and nurture emotional resilience.
• The Warner Family Foundation: Featuring the Malcolm-Jamal Warner Creative Legacy Scholarshipfor artists aged 14-22 working in multiple disciplines—to encourage creative expression without limits, just as Malcolm did.
Tenisha’s words touched on hope and continuity:
“Together we carry the legacy my husband and I began—one that nurtures children’s inner light and gives young artists the freedom to create outside the lines,” she wrote in her caption while sharing their wedding photo.

“This is love. Still moving. Still making. Still carrying us forward,” she added.
River & Ember draws its name from how Tenisha describes Malcolm-Jamal: his presence like a river—steady, sure, always moving toward what matters; his spirit like an ember—glowing, igniting possibility.
