Police Detain Raleigh, NC Man Accused of Spraying HIV-Infected Blood in the Eyes of Hospital Workers

Police have arrested a Raleigh, North Carolina, man accused of spraying HIV-infected blood into the eyes of two healthcare workers.

Kameron Gilchrist, 25, faces two felony counts of assault on emergency personnel. According to an arrest warrant, the incident occurred on March 21, 2025, at Raleigh’s UNC Rex Hospital, where Gilchrist allegedly sprayed HIV-positive blood into the eyes of two healthcare employees, causing irritation and potential exposure to the virus.

At the time of the incident, Gilchrist was reportedly being treated for diabetes-related issues. Authorities have not confirmed whether the exposed employees contracted the virus or whether the blood originated from Gilchrist himself.

Police told WRAL News that Gilchrist was not immediately taken into custody because he was undergoing medical and psychiatric treatment. He was arrested on September 8th and remain in police custody at the Public Safety Center in Raleigh, NC.

Gilchrist is scheduled to appear in court on December 8th. According to his Instagram page [@TheeKameron] Gilchridt is a musician who owns a eyewear [Franed by Kam] and jewelry company [Kingdom Beads by Kam].
