Paige Shiver has become the center of online speculation after Michigan fired head coach Sherrone Moore for engaging in an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member. The university’s internal investigation reportedly found credible evidence of the 39-year-old’s misconduct. Although the university has not identified the staff member involved, unverified social media rumors have pointed to Shiver, Moore’s executive assistant—fueled by her salary increase and her sudden retreat from social media.
According to The Detroit News, audio from dispatch calls reveals two separate complaints. In one call, Moore’s wife claimed he was suicidal after losing his job. In another, a caller reported that an unidentified person was at her home, attacking her, and had been stalking her for months. Moore was not identified in the audio, but he was arrested at the same location where the 911 call was made.

The conversation escalated when an X user posted a now-deleted tweet accusing Moore of cheating on his wife (of 10 years), getting a staff member pregnant, and forcing her to get an abortion. These unverified claims have intensified questions about why Michigan moved so quickly to dismiss Moore and why he was detained just hours later.
Shiver, the daughter of longtime Chicago Bears scout Jeff Shiver, was promoted to executive assistant in 2024 after previously working in on-campus recruiting.

Moore remains in police custody at the Washtenaw Correctional Division, according to VineLink, following his firing. His dismissal comes on the eve of bowl season, where he had been slated to lead the Wolverines against Texas in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31st.
Moore had been with the Michigan Wolverines since 2018, starting as a tight ends coach before eventually replacing Jim Harbaugh. Associate head coach Biff Poggi will assume coaching duties in Moore’s absence.
