K. Michelle Responds to Lebron James’ Comment About Not Liking the Hotels in Memphis While Suggesting the Team Should Move to Nashville

Memphis native and singer K. Michelle responds to LeBron James’ comments about not liking the hotels in Memphis while suggesting the team should move to Nashville.

In a series of tweets, K. Michelle pushed back, emphasizing the importance of the Memphis Grizzlies to the city’s economy and culture.

“Trying to pull one of the greatest assets that a predominately Black city has because you don’t like the hotels is insane. It’s a deeper conversation,” she tweeted.

“I grew up in the South in a very small town called Memphis. The city taught me how to be tough, how to make a way out of no way. The food, the music, the culture. I’ll forever want the best for my hometown.”

She added the team should remain in Memphis, standing ten toes down on her comment.

During an appearance on the YouTube show Bob Does Sports, hosted by Robby Berger, the 41-year-old opened up about the toll of travel late in his career.

“Yeah, a random a** Tuesday in Milwaukee staying at the f-cking Hyatt at 41 years old. You think I want to do that sh-t? Being in Memphis on a f-king random a Thursday?” James said while playing golf.

The league’s all-time leading scorer also joked about the city’s NBA future, saying, “We’re all like, you guys have to move. Just go over to Nashville,” referencing nearby attractions like Vanderbilt, NASCAR, and the Nashville Predators.

He added that if Memphis had landed the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, things might’ve gone very differently. James said he “might have pulled an Eli Manning,” referencing how Manning refused to play for the team that drafted him before being traded.
