A North Carolina soldier accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend and hiding her body has been sentenced to 15–19 years in prison.
Pfc. Tyrique Zavier Leroy Williams pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and desecration of a body or remains of 24-year-old Annie Lock, who was five weeks pregnant when she disappeared in August 2024.
Annie’s remains were found in a Red Springs pond in April 2025, months after her family reported her missing. Her sister, Tanya Lock, said Williams had told the family he would file a missing-persons report but never did. Two months after Lock disappeared, Williams married another woman.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that the month after she disappeared, the sister received messages from her sister’s phone, which were brought up in a custody hearing case with the deceased victim and suspect’s daughter.
Although the spelling was off, she responded to the text messages. The victim’s phone, which was tamperwd with, allegedly claimed she needed a “break from life” and that she would be “back in a couple of months.”
Some of the messages stated the following:
“You don’t have to call nobody or report nothing I’m fine, I promise.”
“Tyrique said that you guys were reporting it. We’re fine. I’m communicating with him. He has the baby.”
After he didn’t file the missing report, she went ahead and filed in October 2024. Williams was completing his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, when he was arrested.
