ABC11 WTVD news reporter. Akilah Davis amplified her resume in becoming North Carolina Central University’s newest adjunct professor.
“I am beyond excited to teach in the Department of Mass Communication, bringing real-world newsroom experience into the classroom and helping prepare the next generation of journalists,” Davis wrote in her caption post on social media.
The position will be another added layer to Davis’ remarkable journalism resume while breaking her strong expertise to Eagles students.

Davis joined WTVD in July 2017 as a Fayetteville-Fort Bragg bureau reporter, according to her bio, before covering race and culture in February 2021. Before joining WTVD, Davis worked as a morning show reporter for Maryland-based Sinclair Broadcast Group and as a multimedia journalist for KWQC-TV 6 News, covering the Quad Cities in Iowa and Illinois, as reported in her LinkedIn bio. She also interned at WCIA as a statehouse reporter and at WGN-TV as a news and production intern.
Some of his story coverage includes hearing about the epidemic’s impact on newborns in Central Illinois and former President Barack Obama’s 2012 Watch Party, according to her ABC 11 bio.

Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in speech and communication from the University of Illinois at Champagne and a master’s in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
The Chicago native will continue her day job as a reporter with the Raleigh-Durham-based news station while teaching at NCCU.
