Netflix and Tyler Perry officially confirmed that Why Did I Get Married Again? is on the way, news fans have been eagerly awaiting since speculation began about a possible trilogy to the 2007 classic.
Reuniting with Perry are familiar faces from the first two films, including Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker, and Sharon Leal. Joining the cast for the new chapter are Taraji P. Henson, Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, Da’Vinchi, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Charles L. Smith, Derrick A. King, and Sydney Winbush.

The film is an adaptation of Perry’s stage play Why Do I Get Married?, which was first brought to the big screen nearly 18 years ago from the announcement on October 12, 2007, followed by Why Did I Get Married Too? in 2010.
In this long-awaited sequel, the couples reunite to celebrate the wedding of Marcus (Michael Jai White No) and Angela’s (Tasha Smith) daughter, according to Whats on Netflix. But as they come back together after years apart, they quickly realize that while life has changed, some things remain the same. Seeing their children mirror their own past mistakes and choices, they’re forced to reflect on the examples they’ve set, and revisit the question that has followed them through the years: Why Did We Get Married… Again?

No update has been given on Janet Jackson or why she may not be reprising her role, a return many fans were hoping for, especially after Perry teased the trilogy by posting a photo of the script on social media. There is also no update on when the movie is expected to be released on Netflix.
