This coming Tuesday, September 29th, the Silver & Gold Sassy Senior Legacy Pageant is inviting the public to its senior mixer and fundraiser.
The Senior Legacy Social will be held at 226 The Warehouse from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., located at 226 Donaldson St. in Fayetteville, NC. The attire for the event is silver & gold cocktail chic. The social is “An Evening of Purpose and Impact,” bringing seniors, supporters, and the community together for an evening centered on connection, celebration, and giving back.
The social is hosted by the 2024 reigning Silver & Gold Sassy Senior Queen, Zakiyyah Salaam. The mixer will give guests an opportunity to meet the 2026 legacy contestants competing in the upcoming pageant this November, connect with members of the community, and learn more about the pageant’s mission. Guests can enjoy curated sips, light refreshments, and an evening of conversation.
The visionary behind the fundraiser mixer and pageant is Lanette Kelly, the CEO and founder of Southern Hope & Legacy Alliance, Inc. Southern Hope & Legacy Alliance, Inc. is a community-centered nonprofit committed to bridging hope and honoring legacy across generations. The organization operates under three pillars: supporting foster families, celebrating and uplifting senior citizens’ social and emotional wellness, and serving youth and families through community outreach, creating meaningful opportunities for connection, care, and lasting impact.

The Silver & Gold Sassy Senior Legacy Pageant is an initiative that operates under the organization. In addition, the organization also has “Southern Lux JeepHer” as another initiative under the organization that strives to empower women Jeep lovers through adventure, connection, and community.
The first Miss Silver & Gold Sassy Senior Pageant was held on November 2, 2024, at the J.D. Fuller Recreation Center in Fayetteville, NC. The 2nd pageant is slated for November 14th at 4 p.m., where the new contestants will compete for the throne, with the event taking place at Skyview on Hay, located at 121 Hay St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
The upcoming social and pageant are much bigger than the crown and throne, as the events highlight the importance of honoring senior citizens while creating opportunities for them through social engagement and community involvement. The events also strive to create meaningful experiences for seniors while most of their children are adults who are living their lives with work and responsibilities, and seniors, whose adjusting to their new norm of post-retirement.
