Bomb Threats Reported by Georgia Election Official, Disrupting Multiple Polling Sites in the Atlanta Area

The Atlanta area received bomb threats at multiple polling sites. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said the threats were a result of Russia attempting to interfere in the state’s elections. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is aware of bomb threats to polling locations in several states, many of which originate from Russian email domains.  Fulton County Election Director Nadine Williams identified five non-credible threats to five locations, including Union City’s Etris-Darnell Senior Center and C.H. Gullatt Elementary School.

Two locations were evacuated for 30 minutes each, and the county is working to obtain a court order to allow them to stay open for an extra 30 minutes. South Fulton Police also swept Feldwood Elementary, a polling place, but no evacuation occurred. The county seeks a court order to extend polling hours for the two locations. Georgia, with its proactive measures and preparedness to deal with threats, ensures that poll stations across the state remain safe despite them, instilling a sense of security and confidence in the public.

The Fulton County Police Department has responded to multiple calls regarding threats and is coordinating with law enforcement agencies to prevent and react swiftly to the incidents, ensuring the safety of the public and the integrity of the election process.
