Southern Lux JeepSistas, Inc. proudly hosted its inaugural Miss Silver and Gold Sassy Senior pageant on Saturday, November 2nd, at the JD Fuller Recreation Center in Fayetteville, NC.
Southern Lux JeepSistas is a nonprofit organization, founded by Lanette Kelly, that’s dedicated to supporting various humanitarian causes, such as financial literacy and offering financial assistance to newly licensed foster families. The organization also host spectacular car shows in the community. Southern Lux JeepSistas put on this dynamic pageant to encourage social engagement among senior citizens.

According to the press release, over 100 guests gathered for the event, to watch Southern Lux JeepSistas crown 69-year-old Zakiyyah Salaam as the first-ever Miss Silver & Gold Sassy Senior. Salaam devoted her inspiring words to senior wellness and her empowering mantra, “Live Life, don’t let Life live you.” If you’re not actively embracing life, you’re likely doing the contrary. The choice is “YOURS,” embodying her vision for an empowered and fulfilling life for seniors around the globe.

Through her reign, the Cheraw, SC native seeks to emphasize the distinct social challenges confronting seniors today and establish avenues for their voices to resonate. Salaam’s social and emotional wellness platform inspires seniors to reengage with their communities and is met with enthusiastic receptions. In the future, Salaam’s goal is to use her platform through speaking engagements and take part in community events, fostering partnerships with local organizations to improve senior well-being.
