Miami Heat Guard, Terry Rozier, is Under Investigation for Illegal Sports Betting

Then-Charlotte Hornets guard Terry Rozier is under question for a March 23, 2023 game performance against the New Orleans Pelicans.

During that particular game, he played roughly 10 minutes and allegedly faked a foot injury, according to the Wall Street Journal. Rozier didn’t play for the remaining 8 games of the 2022-2023 season.

Some bettors expressed their frustration on social media with sportsbooks when it became evident that Rozier was not going to return to the Charlotte-New Orleans game after the first quarter. While some sportsbooks offered Rozier props from the March 23rd game, they took them down hours before the start of the game.

Rozier, who currently plays for the Miami Heat, has not faced any criminal charges or allegations of misconduct by the NBA.

However, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York is now conducting an investigation.

In April of last year, the NBA imposed a lifetime ban on former Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter following an investigation that revealed he had shared confidential information with sports bettors and placed wagers on games, including bets against his own team to lose.

If found guilty, Rozier could be facing a lifetime ban from the NBA, heavy fines, and imprisonment.

The 30-year-old played for the Charlotte Hornets from 2019 to 2024, before he was traded to the Miami Heat on January 23, 2024.
