Following the death of hip hop executive Irv Gotti, 50 Cent posted an image of him at a hookah lounge—smoking a hookah while sitting next to a ‘RIP’ tombstone—with the following caption: “I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack, nah God bless him LOL,” he wrote along with a picture of the 54-year-old in the next picture slide.

Some fans backed 50 Cent’s post, including one user who goes by the name Nyei, who wrote under his post, “They tried blackballing and unaliving Fif, so I’m not even mad,” while others criticized the Queens rapper and entrepreneur for a post that came off as insensitive.

50 Cent, who had a long-feuded beef with the Murder Inc. cofounder, dates back to the late 1990s when one of 50 Cent’s associates allegedly robbed Ja Rule at gunpoint, and 50 released a diss song titled “Your Life’s on the Line,” following the robbery aimed at Ja Rule and Murder Inc.
The beef resulted in a series of events with 50 getting stabbed in a fight at the Hit Factory studio in New York with Murder Inc. rapper Black Child taking credit for the stabbing.
He also sustained nine gunshot wounds outside his grandparents’ Queens, New York home. There were no arrests in the attempted murder of 50 Cent at the time. Federal investigators did lead the incident to drug lord Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff (Gotti’s friend) and members of Murder Inc. as the alleged suspects for plotting to kill 50 in response to him mentioning McGriff in the 2000 song “Ghetto Qu’ran.”

50 Cent mocked Gotti throughout the years, even taunting him as a result of Ashanti, whom Gotti was in love with, and her rekindled relationship with Nelly.
He also shared a leaked photo of Gotti walking with a cane and wrote, “Damn homie, in high school you was the man homie, WTF happened to you?”, referencing his 2002 song “Wanka.” He added, “I want Irv to get well so he can have to watch my next wave LOL.”
