R. Kelly Accepts Tank’s Residuals Challenge, Remixing His Version While Behind Bars

R. Kelly decided to join in on the fun, singing the Residuals challenge behind bars. The challenge was initiated by R&B singer Tank on February 8th, who decided to create his own version of Chris Brown’s song, “Residuals.”

After posting his video on social media, he issued a challenge to other singers to come out with their version.

Tank wrote the following caption:

“I issue you a challenge in honor of @chrisbrownofficial 11:11 being the best R&B album in the world and ‘Residuals’ being the best R&B song in the world! You up for the challenge? I AM #ResidualsVerseChallenge R&B MONEY ”

Since then, other singers like Latocha Scott ex member from Xscape, Mario, Jacob Latimore, NLE Choppa, Trevor Jackson, and more have all joined in with their version of Brown’s 2023 song.

R. Kelly becomes the latest artist to remix the song while behind bars. The 58-year-old took a different approach, calling out those who are making money off his music, songs he wrote for them but not putting money on his commissary. He also questioned where his residuals were going after 34 years in the industry, putting the “R in R&B.”

The song was posted on multi platinum producer, Rodney East’s social media page on March 10th. As of today, the video attracted closed to 50K viewers on YouTube.

Kelly, who’s currently serving a 30-year sentence in a federal prison in Butner, NC, for racketeering and sexual abuse, recently shared in a rare interview with the Inmate Tea with A&P podcast that he’s completed 25 albums and will continue singing.
