Drake released a new song, What Did I Miss?, on July 4, 2025, at 9pm EST. Drake made the announcement in his Instagram story and social media post on Independence Day, telling his followers to be here (on his social media page) at 9pm. Once the clock hit 9pm, Drake shared the link to his video with curious followers.
In his solo video, which debuted on YouTube, it starts off with Drake, who appears to be in a warehouse, measuring a large ice cube. The video then shows images of a warehouse before he settles in the break room with a TV screen that displays “Exclusive Announcement” before the next screen displays, “What Did I Miss?”

The video then shows him outside by the pool, rapping while numerous guns are laid on the ground, in reference to “The Ameriguns” photo series by National Geographic photographer Gabriele Galimberti, before transitioning to another song where he is dancing and finally moving to a scene of him leaving the warehouse and driving in the company’s vehicle.

He discusses feelings of betrayal and calling out his so-called friends, advising them to not ask him for any more favors. The rapper even mentions Bitcoin, comparing fickle friends to the cryptocurrency’s rollercoaster price moves, saying he looked at it “like a BTC”: “Could be down this week, then I’m up next week.”
One verse in the track goes: “I saw bro in the Pop Out with them but have been d*ckriding gang since Headlines.” The Pop Out reference likely targets either former Toronto Raptors player and Compton native DeRozan or his friend LeBron James, both of whom attended Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert in Los Angeles on Juneteenth in 2024.
The video signifies that an album is on the way for the Toronto rapper. He then follows up in another story for viewers to listen to the song, which is now available on major music streamers like Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, iTunes Stores, and Amazon Music.
The video release comes one year after Kendrick Lamar released the video for the song “Not Like Us.”
It appears that the fireworks are about to ignite again.
