Actor James Ransone Dies at 46 Following an Apparent Suicide, Medical Examiner Says

Actor James Ransone, widely recognized for his portrayal of Ziggy Sobotka on HBO’s The Wire and Eddie Kaspbrak in It: Chapter Two, has died at the age of 46. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Ransone’s death on Friday, December 19, 2025, was ruled an apparent suicide.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that no foul play is suspected. Over the course of his career, Ransone delivered memorable performances across film and television, with credits including The Black PhoneSinisterGeneration Kill, and Poker Face.

He is survived by his wife and their son. Ransone leaves behind a respected body of work and a lasting impact on audiences through his distinctive performances.
