Beyoncé’s Cécred Chronicles JAŸ-Z’s Loc Takedown Journey Ahead of Last Month’s Roots Picnic Music Festival

Beyoncé’s Cécred chronicles JAŸ-Z’s loc takedown journey, in a video titled, Blueprint, ahead of The Roots Picnic. 

Narrated by Queen Bey, the video reveals that JAŸ-Z told his wife months ago that he wanted to rock an Afro at The Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, honoring his late father, Adnis Reeves, who wore an Afro, and because his favorite sports team is based in Philly.

The video also shares that HOV originally grew his hair out for eight years because of his daughter, Blue Ivy. At 5 years old, Blue expressed to her father that she wasn’t confident about her hair. Growing out his hair was JAŸ-Z’s way of showing her that his hair texture is just like hers, as a special father-daughter bond rooted in love, self-expression, identity, and embracing natural beauty.

With help from Beyoncé and others, the loc takedown process took six days, followed by a full day of washing, moisturizing, and cornrowing his hair using Cécred products. Beyond the transformation, the video captured a beautiful and intimate side of love, patience, and bonding between Beyoncé and JAŸ-Z, as the superstar lovingly helped take down his locs, wash, and straighten out his hair.

Last month, JAŸ-Z generated alot of medi buzz when he debuted his Afro at The Roots Picnic music festival, leaving many curious about the process behind taking down his locs. Now, fans are getting an inside look at the journey, and the love that went into it.
