“Ready to Take On Anything” – Kamala Harris: A Woman of Many Firsts, Initiating Change

Attending the Biden-Harris campaign event was an exciting experience. The audience cheered with excitement for Kamala Harris, who delivered an exhilarating speech that set the tone at Westover High School’s gymnasium. Harris, like the school’s mascot, Wolverine, exuded bravery and inner power while performing on stage.

North Carolina is vital battleground state with Kamala Harris’ making it her second visit in the Tarheel State in a week, following her trip to Greensboro on July 11th. The Biden-Harris administration is well aware of the state’s propensity to go blue in this year’s crucial election.

She was ready to do whatever it took to help the Biden-Harris administration win this year’s election. She emphasized the Biden administration’s successful track record and the crucial job that lies ahead. The campaign rally took place just two days before Biden announced that he would withdraw from his bid for a second term during his COVID seclusion period. The 81-year-old endorsed Vice President Harris as the presidential nominee, giving her campaign a substantial boost.

HARRIS’ PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN: A WAVE OF UNSTOPPABLE SUPPORT

After the announcement, supporters rallied around Harris, organizing meetings and contributing to her campaign. The same day she accepted the president bid, “Win With Black Women” rallied 44,000 black women together on a Zoom to rally support for Harris and donate $1.5 million towards her campaign. On July 22nd, Win With Black Men, a group of black male supporters, registered 53,862 people on the call, successfully raising $1.3 million to support Harris’ election bid.

Several groups, such as White Women: Answer the Call, White Women Against MAGA, The Many Over MAGA, South Asian Women for Harris, and Latinas for Harris, pursued the mobilization effort, organizing conference calls, collecting donations, and setting up a phone bank to prepare a plan to support the newly nominated President of the Democratic Party.

On Thursday, July 25th, her alma mater, Howard University, called for a national organizing call for Howard University alums to support Kamala Harris for president. According to Act Blue, Harris raised 81 million dollars in 24 hours, setting a record for donations to a presidential campaign.

Radical Changes? A Call for Action

After hearing about Harris’ presidential nomination, I knew she was up for the challenge. There was special spark about her that made me understand she was a lady on a mission to finish the job. Throughout her remarks, she emphasized what’s at stake and the importance of the election.

On July 18th, Harris informed the gathering,

“So, today, we are 110 days out from the election. And while many of us have been involved with these elections for every four years, practically, nearly every time we will say, “This is the one.” Well, this here is the one—the most existential, consequential, and important election of our lifetime. And there is so much at stake,”

She emphasized the importance of the approaching election and concentrated significantly on Project 2025, an issue that Vice President nominee JD Vance did not discuss at the previous Republican convention. She described Project 2025, which was orchestrated by the past Trump administration, as a huge threat to the country’s democracy, stating that the radical reforms might dramatically alter the fabric of our society and threaten the country’s democracy.

The writer understood Harris’ urgent message on Project 2025 as she presented it in depth, and the significance of the crowd’s and viewers’ support and involvement in this critical election made them feel the weight of their participation.

Project 2025

The 922-page document presented a political plan proposed by The Heritage Foundation, a conservative research firm, for significant changes to the federal government. Some of the biggest changes include allowing states to prohibit labor unions in the private sector, reducing Social Security benefits, eliminating overtime protection for employees, and terminating the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. If carried out, these measures might have a significant influence on the lives of ordinary Americans, particularly those from underrepresented communities.

The proposal also proposed privatizing or consolidating the other federal government departments, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Department of Education, Head Start, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Department of Homeland Security, into new agencies.

Following Harris’ speech, studies focused on the potential implications of Project 2025 if Trump wins. The proposed reforms could pose a severe threat to our democracy, emphasizing the importance of this election and the audience’s participation.

The First Initiative Step

Harris’ first initiative background is unsurprising, considering her readiness and preparation for the assignment displayed during the rally. Her preparedness echoes Harris’ career desire to take the initiative to complete tasks. The Howard University and University of California at Hastings graduate has a number of firsts to her credit. She’s the first born child, who took the initiative to look out for her sister. In 2004, she became the first woman to serve as San Francisco’s district attorney. She became California’s first female Attorney General in 2011. While serving as US Senator (California), she ran for President of the United States in 2019, but dropped out of the race – citing to lack of campaign funds.

After Biden won the democratic primaries, he nominated Harris as his running mate. She became the first female Vice President of the United States in 2020, after Biden defeated Donald Trump in the 2020 Election. Her career milestones demonstrate her leadership and ability to break barriers, inspiring others to do the same and providing hope and possibility.

Her “first” story is still in writing, as she strives to become the first female President of the United States. If elected, she will become the first female president in history. Harris, stated the following in her 2020 victory speech after becoming the first female Vice President of the United States:

“But while I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last.”

“Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others may not, simply because they have never seen it, but know that we will applaud you every step of the way,” Kamala Harris stated during her victory speech for 2020.

The 59-year-old background exemplifies leading with bravery and tenacity, particularly in key moments, to uniting and bringing justice for all—for the sake of the country’s democracy. Her readiness is an excellent example of making a first lasting impression to make an impact in history.
