Coral Springs, FL Vice Mayor Allegedly Killed by Husband, Was Sister of 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting Survivor, Who Died by Suicide

Coral Springs Vice Mayor, who was allegedly killed by her husband, was the sister of Donovan Joshua Leigh Metayer, a survivor of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, who died by suicide in December 2025.

Nancy Metayer Bowen was found dead in her home on April 1. Authorities have arrested her husband, Stephen Bowen, in connection with her killing. He was charged with premeditated murder and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

This devastating loss comes just months after Nancy mourned the loss of her younger brother, who died by suicide in December. A survivor of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, Donovan had struggled mentally in the aftermath of the 2018 tragedy.
