“Can y’all all just show Jaleel Cobb some love and appreciation fr [for real]! This man puts on year after year and he’s only getting better I swear!! Bro, I really appreciate you from the bottom of my heart, and I’m proud to watch your brand grow into the million-dollar brand it is,” Tabara Taylor.
“Another Proud MOment in my public relations career! 3rd Annual NC Hip Hop and Fashion Awards Public Relations of the Year presented by C.O.B.B Music Empire Group & Jaleel Cobb! Thank you for nominating me, Tonya McNeill! It’s always nice to be recognized, it’s appreciated!” Shadonna McPhaul, The Mo You Know
The comments were some of the many outpouring shout-outs and love Cobbs received on his Facebook timeline in the aftermath of his event, the NC Hip Hop and Fashion Awards. The overwhelming love on his timeline was coming in like an end-of-the movie credit from guests and awardees. The event, held on March 16th, at Fayetteville’s Event Stadium Center, was a platform letting local artists and talent know they are seen and their valuable contributions by gifting them with an award as a token of appreciation.
Last Saturday’s awards show was more than just a show, as the red carpet was decked with guests rocking their fashionable attire (hip-hip to formal inspired) to honor the state’s underground artists, predominately from the 910, and local influencers. It was nothing but love as the crowd chanted, “26 eeeeuuuuhhhh” and “the 25” each time as the crowd shouted each time their beloved hometown talents came up to the podium to receive their award.
Cobb, the owner of Cobb Empire Music Group, is the man behind the award show. The Grammy and BET Hip Hop Award-inspired event, now in its third year, is growing in popularity, with guests traveling from as far away as New Jersey.

This is not your typical award, in which a winner is selected out of a pool of nominees in each category. All nominees in each category received their respective awards. Other nominees in various categories besides musicians, such as entrepreneurs, barbers, hair stylists, civic leaders, community contributors, music producers, radio personalities, DJs, public relations, authors, models, and actors, were also recognized for their accomplishments in their respective fields. The event altogether brought out the “who’s who” influencers of the region. It was nothing but love during last week’s awards show, making the finest of the best feel esteemed on their special night for their dedicated craft.
Models Rubby Lee James and Nicole Lynn Coles were the hosts for last week’s event. The evening featured live performances by Baby Jitt, Rse Bishop, That Boy J Mike to name a few. Mariel Lee, Miss North Carolina (United States of America), was the featured special guest. The event also featured a 360-degree photo booth, a DJ performance by Yodo, and vendors.
His vision is now a reality, as he continues to raise the bar in awarding artists and community contributors. When asked how it feels to be a trendsetter in the community at such a young age, Cobbs shared on the 810 Studios-hosted red carpet that it’s a great feeling and blessing for him. The pouring love and support Cobbs receives and the people rooting for him are also motivational tools to keep going. He is more motivated than ever to continue with that trendsetter mindset for next year’s award.
