Fayetteville City Councilwoman Courtney Banks-McLaughlin announced her bid to file for North Carolina State Representative, District 42, for the 2024 election. The Exclusive Press confirmed the news today through Banks-McLaughlin.
She believes North Carolinians will benefit from her transparency, policy decision-making ability, and community visibility.
Banks-McLaughlin, who recently won her 3rd term on November 7th, has been in the seat for District 8 since December 2019. Governor Cooper appointed her to serve on the Governor’s Crime Commission in April 2023.
“I want to continue to serve as a representative not only for the city of Fayetteville but for the great state of North Carolina,” Banks-McLaughlin shared with the Exclusive Press.
State Representative Marvin W. Lucas currently serves in the seat. The filing period starts on December 4th.
